Horton Hears A Who!
By Dr. Seuss

Every Life is Important No Matter How Small

Each time I read Horton's story to my two little girls, I can't help but think of the many tiny voices that never have the chance to be heard. Today, I heard Obama announce his reversal of Bush's ban on federal funding for Embryonic Stem Cell research. I knew it was coming, but it still made my stomach turn. Thanks to all the Hortons... for fighting to make tiny voices heard.

On the fifteenth of May, in the jungle of Nool... Horton the elephant heard a small noise.

So you know what I think?…Why, I think that there must
Be someone on top of that small speck of dust!
Some sort of a creature of very small size,
too small to be seen by an elephant’s eyes…

“…some poor little person who’s shaking with fear
That he’ll blow in the pool! He has no way to steer!
I’ll just have to save him. Because, after all,
A person’s a person, no matter how small.”

Humpf!” humpfed a voice. Twas a sour Kangaroo.
And the young kangaroo in he pouch said “Humpf!” too
“Why, that speck is as small as the head of a pin.
A person on that?why, there never has been!”

“Should I put this speck down?…” Horton thought with alarm.
“If I do, these small persons may come to great harm.
I can’t put it down. And I won’t! After all
A person’s a person. No matter how small.”

Life Happens

So, it's been a little while since I posted anything. OK, OK, So it's been several months. What can i say, life has been in high gear since my last post. Sure it would have made for some action packed posts, but I was too tired to care about Xanga. Besides, my reader base is very, very small, and generally know what's going on in my life anyhow. So what's the point?

For those few of you who don't know what the heck has been happening in the last several months, here's a short list.

*Roger joined the Army.
*I'm temporarily playing single mom
*I've spent nearly 2 months (3weeks here, 10days there etc...) traveling since Roger left.

Again, for those of you who don't know what the heck is going on right now, here's a brief update.

Roger is doing fabulously well  in his training at Ft. Bragg in NC. so far he's Tied for #1 in his class. He working hard to graduate #1. I guess it's a big honor.  He loves the job he chose and can't wait to get started. He is currently in AIT for PSYOP. Immediately following AIT he will go to Jump School and learn the popper way to jump out off a perfectly good plane. Immediately after Jump School he will go back to Ft. Bragg for his language training. At that point, we will be allowed to move with him and he can live with us. Thus temporarily ending my temporary status as single mom. By the time his training is complete, it will be about a year since his enlistment.

I'm managing pretty well. I think I will kick but at this Army wife thing. It's no cake walk, let me tell ya. I have to manage all off the family business, all of Roger's personal business, the household duties, the children, and my needs (if I have time). It's pretty exhausting, but I'm keep up with everything pretty darn well considering.  Roger will be home for Christmas, so we will be like a real family for 11 days. We are all excited about that. Clahra talks about it all the time. she says "Daddy fwy pwane, come home Cwismus!"

The girls are growing - which is good, because they they're supposed to grow. Clahra is two and a half now and Lily is ten and a half months. They keep me busy and, on some days, stressed out. Lily learned how to make a tractor roll and say brbrbrbrrbr as it rolls today. She also learned how to "moooooo" like a cow. I'm not really sure, but I don't think she's supposed to be doing that yet. It seems early. Maybe I should tell her to stop being so stink'n smart. Her Dr. said she was really advanced w/ her language skills and others. Oh, she also said the word bath; she says "bat." she wanted to take a bath with Clahra (who took off her diaper, but not her clothes and wet herself b/f I noticed she had no diaper) so she slapped the tub with her hands while saying "bat, bat, bat". Clahra is trying to perfect the art of removing the diaper while still wearing the clothes. What baffles me is why she was OK with her wetness for so long b/f I noticed. At least it wasn't poopy this time. Oh what to do; this doesn't bode well for potty training.

So that's what's going on here.

Food For Thought

So, I was looking at the package of raw, shell on, easy-peel shrimp in my freezer the other day and I noticed a little seal in the corner that said " NO TRANS FATS." I found it odd that it was necessary to state that fact  "Hmmm" I thought to myself "I didn't realize one could buy raw, shell-on, easy-peal shrimp with trans fats."  I laughed. I found the same said seal on a bag of raw baby spinach. I grinned and shook my head.
